Modernizing a 15-Year-Old Good Class Bungalow (GCB) with a Contemporary Aesthetic
This project involved the renovation of a 15-year-old Good Class Bungalow (GCB) in Singapore, originally designed by the renowned architect Chan Shao Yan. Our client sought to refresh the home entirely, modernizing it while preserving the spirit of luxury and quality craftsmanship. The goal was to move away from conventional designs, incorporating high-quality materials and innovative solutions to create a fresh, contemporary space.

Comprehensive Interior and Exterior Revamp
The renovation of this GCB was extensive. On the interior, we reimagined the home’s layout by upgrading essential systems and spaces. The lighting system was entirely revamped to create an atmosphere of modern sophistication, while the water tanks and central air conditioning system were replaced to improve efficiency and comfort. These updates not only enhanced the functionality of the home but also contributed to the overall aesthetic by providing a seamless integration of modern technology.

On the exterior, we made significant transformations to key areas, including the bedrooms, gym, entertainment room, dining room, and dry kitchen. These spaces were redesigned to embrace a more modern look while retaining the luxury and charm of the original GCB design. The home's exterior was remodeled to give it a fresh, contemporary facelift, aligning with the client’s desire for a more modern and less traditional appearance.

Material Selection: A Bold Mix of Micro Cement, Metal, and Natural Marble
To bring the client’s vision to life, we used an unconventional blend of materials to create an organic yet modern aesthetic. Micro cement, framed with metal accents, formed the foundation of the design, providing a sleek, minimalist look. Natural marble was strategically integrated to add sophistication and a touch of timeless elegance. This combination of materials helped us craft a refined yet unconventional atmosphere that was perfectly suited to the client’s sophisticated tastes.

The result is a luxurious, contemporary home that reflects the owners' desire for modernity and quality without compromising on elegance. The renovation has successfully elevated the GCB, transforming it into a stunning residence that balances high-end design with functionality and modern comfort.
